Tobacco control in Boston
The Boston Public Health Commission oversees a tobacco control program that serves the city of Boston.
The Boston Tobacco Prevention and Control Program (BTPCP) provides development, implementation and enforcement of local ordinances that control the sale, use and distribution of tobacco. The BTPCP currently licenses all tobacco retailers and conducts compliance checks to ensure businesses abide by local laws restricting youth access to tobacco. BTPCP staff enforces Boston's workplace smoking regulation and conduct community education efforts on dangers of tobacco use to the general public, populations at risk, and businesses.
